‘Atiku’s restructuring is deceitful’

The Southwest Frontiers Group for Buhari 2019 yesterday dismissed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate’s planned restructuring describing same as ‘deceitful’.

The group comprising all political party supporters said the restructuring being canvassed by former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was a ruse solely to get votes from unwary electorates across board.

The group also berated Afenifere- the Yoruba pan-socio-cultural organization -for declaring support for Atiku adding that its position did not represent the consensus of the Yoruba nation.

Members of the group, who were drawn from Ondo, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Lagos and Ogun state and were in solidarity with Buhari’s reelection bid, lambasted Afenifere stating that it was not speaking for the people of the South-West on their choice of president for next month’s poll.

The group, which hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for his excellent performance, said the Afenifere was not speaking for the people of the South-West on their choice for the next month poll.

The spokesman of the group, Omowumi Adebayo, said in Akure, the Ondo state capital, that the restructuring the PDP presidential candidate plans to carry out was deceitful, stressing that the people of the South-West would not be part of the such ‘arrangee’ restructuring.

“We in Yorubaland are always in the progressives’ camp since the days of Awolowo. These people are deceiving us that they are progressives but they are not.

The coordinator of the group, Joseph Ayodele said those behind the restructuring compromised the June 12 election, won by late Chief MKO Abiola, noting that If Atiku could not bring about restructuring when he was Vice President, it was doubtful he would ensure it comes to fruition.

Also, the group said: “If the PDP ruled for 16 years and Atiku was the vice president for eight years out of the 16 years and could not restructured the country then,he asked what type of restructuring does he (Atiku) want to give the country now”.
