Attack: Nasarawa ‘thugs’ turn down DSS invitation

By our correspondent

Hoodlums suspected to be aides attached to governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa state have shunned invitation by the Department of State Service, Lafia for interrogation.
The aides; Darda’u and Baban Laria (a.k.a Master), who were at Mohammed Yangida’s residence last week Thursday morning in Lafia, allegedly attacked Blueprint reporter, with the help of some thugs.
They were invited by the DSS, following complaint by the reporter but refused to honor the invitation, choosing to be represented by the Secretary to the State government (SSG), Barr. Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi.
Reacting to the attitude of the governor’s aides, the reporter said: “They should not forget that I am also from Lafia, from an extended family but I will not take laws into my hand. However, before the situation gets out of control and to allow peace to reign, the two gentlemen should be brought to book to serve as lesson to others.”
Following his harassment last week, Yangida had rushed to the DSS in Lafia and made a formal complaint on November 27 where he called the attention of the security operatives to the threat to his life by Darda’u and Baban Laria, whom he said were trailing to attack him over a report published on 21 November entitled “youths plan to protest over Buhari 2019” political activities.
The reporter also called the attention of the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idiris, DSS Daura, National Security Adviser, professional colleagues, the Human Rights Commission and Public Complaints Commission to ensure the safety of his life as well as bringing the people to book.
