Attacks: Al-Makura assures Tiv IDPs of safe return

Nasarawa state governor, Umar Tanko Al-Makura, has expressed sympathy with victims of the recent herdsmen attacks which led to the displacement of thousands of Tiv farmers across Nasarawa South senatorial district of the state.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Hon. Silas Ali Agara, stated this when he led government officials on assessment of the situation of IDPs in Doma, Agyaragu and Obi local government council at the weekend.
He said government was deeply touch by the plight of the IDPs and promised to do everything humanly possible to end the carnage and ensure their quick return home to pursue their legitimate businesses He described the recent skirmishes in some parts of the state as unfortunate and advised the IDPS against indiscriminate movement and sued for their cooperation with security agencies drafted to safeguard them within their temporary camps.
Speaking, the IMC chairmen of Doma and Obi local governments, Rabo Sani and Sa’adatu Yahaya among stakeholders in the area, lauded the state government for its quick intervention and called for permanent solution to the crisis.
They even described the mass sack of Tiv farmers in the area as a serious economic sabotage that required urgent attention.
Blueprint observed that most of the Tiv settlements had been completely deserted by their occupants, who were seen evacuating their valuables to safe places for fear of attacks and killings.
