The Attah Igala and Chairman, Kogi State Council of Chiefs , His Royal Majesty Mathew Opaluwa on Sunday warned traditional rulers in the kingdom to desist from giving the traditional tittles of Igala land to people with questionable character.
The Ata Igala stated this at a meeting with all the Igala title holders (Onu Igala) from thirty six states, including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The Royal Majesty warned traditional rulers in the kingdom to desist from giving title of the land to people who do not merit such honours, noting that such act is tantamount to tarnishing the good image of the ancestral stool of Igalaland.
“The time has come to uphold decency, truthfulness, honesty and morality associated with Igala people in the act of our doing things in the kingdom, for the good of Igala people both in the state and in the Diaspora,” he said.
Earlier, the chairman of Onuh Igala in the country, His Royal Highness Joseph Idakwo, who spoke on behalf of others, assured that they will strive to uphold the ethics associated with Igala ethnic nationality.
