AU ECOSOCC tasks Buhari on security, economy, power

The Africa Union, Economic, Social Cultural Council (AU-ECOSOCC), Nigeria chapter has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and his vice, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo for their second term in office, urging both to pay more attention to security, economy, power and human capital development.

This is even as the Council praised the country on the commemoration of 20 years of democracy as a motivation for other African countries that democracy is the best form of government for the continent.

The Council in a congratulatory message signed by Nigeria Representatives, Dr. Tunji Asaolu and Hon. Oba Olasunkanmi John Thursday in Abuja, said the second term presents the administration with the privilege to build on the successes of the first term while correcting the shortcomings.

The Council said President Buhari should consolidate on his achievements in the fight against corruption and be focused on the civil service sector reform.

It stated that the president be rest assured that AU ECOSOCC Nigeria is always ready to extend its support to the efforts of the administration toward delivering the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

The Council also called on all newly elected leaders who were sworn in to tailor their programmes toward delivering the benefits of democracy to the people. 

The Council said the country’s attainment of 20 years of uninterrupted democracy with seamless transmission from one administration to the other showed that the country’s democracy is coming of age.
