Automotive, locomotive engineers charged on entrenching highest standards

President, Nigerian Society of Engineers [NSE], Engr Adekunle Mokuolu has said that members of Automotive and Locomotive Engineers Institute must all ‘focus on entrenching the highest standards in the country’s automotive sector.

He said they should ‘priotise codes and standards being technical guidelines for promoting safety, reliability, productivity and efficiency in engineering work.

The president who spoke at the national conference/annual general meeting of Automotive and Locomotive Engineers Institute [AutoEI] with the theme: ‘Automotive Industry as a Catalyst for Socio-Economic Development’ held in Abuja, Wednesday, noted that, “As part of effort at contributing to the achievement of holistic advancement for our nation, NSE has been on the lead of advocacy for government to uphold the concept of Nigerian Content Development in all sectors.

“As professionals of repute, I urge all members of the AutoEI to improvise strategies that will make you and the profession indispensable before our policy makers. I hereby charge you to priotize intensive membership drive. You should also endeavour to mentor the technicians in the sector and bring them on board as associate members of the society.

National chairman AutoEI Engr Oladimeji Taiwo said the theme cannot be more apt at a time when the entire industry is gasping for breath. The theme was designed to bring together leaders of all sectors to x-ray the challenges and attempt to proffer implementable solutions towards making the Nigerian automotive industry the catalyst for socio economic development that it is supposed to be.
