Average prices of petrol, kerosene rise as cooking gas, diesel fall

Consumers of petroleum products had it mixed in 2020 with the prices of petrol and kerosene rising by 14 per cent and 10.05 per cent year-on -year (YoY) respectively, but consumers of diesel and cooking gas had a better deal as their prices fell. Diesel fell 2.37 per cent, whole fell 3.4 per cent by the end of the year in December.

Average price paid by consumers for premium motor spirit (petrol) increased by 14.00 per cent year-on-year and decreased month-on-month by -0.94 per cent to N165.70 in December 2020 from N167.27 in November 2020.

States with the highest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) were Abia (N176.19), Kwara (N172.43) and Kebbi (N169.92).

States with the lowest average price of premium motor spirit (petrol) were Kaduna (N155.00), Katsina (N160.25) and Bauchi (N162.57).

Average price paid by consumers for Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) increased by 0.28 per cent month-on-month and decreased by -2.37 per cent year-on-year to N224.37 in December 2020 from to N223.74 in November 2020.
States with the highest average price of diesel were Taraba (N266.00), Adamawa (N262.50) and Zamfara (N257.50).

States with the lowest average price of diesel were Kwara (N195.00), Gombe (N197.50) and Osun (N201.09).

Average price per litre paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene decreased by -0.17 per cent month-on-month and increased by 10.05 per cent year-on-year to N352.79 in December 2020 from N353.38 in November 2020.

States with the highest average price per litre of kerosene were Benue (N436.81), Ebonyi (N425.83) and Taraba (N423.33).

States with the lowest average price per litre of kerosene were Bayelsa (N235.95), Rivers (N302.04) and Delta (N307.69).

Similarly, average price per gallon paid by consumers for National Household Kerosene decreased by -3.52 per cent month-on-month and by -3.06 per cent year-on-year to N1,175.59 in December 2020 from N1,218.50 in November 2020.

States with the highest average price per gallon of kerosene were Kebbi (N1,534.21), Nasarawa (N1,488.00) and Benue (N1,450.00).

States with the lowest average price per gallon of kerosene were Sokoto (N733.33), Bayelsa (N773.75) and Adamawa (N822.00).

Average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) increased by 0.12 per cent month-on-month and decreased by -3.41 per cent year-on-year to N1,949.75 in December 2020 from N1,947.47 in November 2020.

States with the highest average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Bauchi (N2,489.12), Borno (N2,396.69) and Adamawa (N2,392.88).

States with the lowest average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Enugu (N1,563.75), Imo (N1,678.89) and Oyo (N1,691.67).

Similarly, average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) increased by 1.75 per cent month-on-month and decreased by -0.52 per cent year-on-year to N4,082.97 in December 2020 from N4,082.97 in November 2020.

States with the highest average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Delta (N4,838.46), Cross River/Sokoto (N4,800.00) and Akwa Ibom (N4,614.49).

States with the lowest average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) were Kaduna (N3,191.67), Zamfara (N3,462.50) and Niger (N3,500.00).
