Aviation union hosts conference for industrial harmony, workplace environment

The Chairman joint consultative and negotiating council, Hector Nnadi who spoke on the significance of the event and the theme said it was essentially to examine management labour relationship and map the way forward for industrial harmony at the workplace environment. 

Nnadi who spoke during the 7th aviation workers week celebration in Abuja said the concept of this years theme is anchored on the desirability or otherwise of a national carrier’s contribution to the socio economic growth of our Fatherland.

As stake holders, Nnadi said it is the unions desire is to add value to the system thus influencing the theme of this year 7th edition of the aviation worker’s week.

He urged the federal government to learn from the mistake of the past and ensure proper regulation.

 He said the concept of this years theme” is anchored on the desirability or otherwise of a national carrier’s contribution to the socio economic growth of our Fatherland.

Underscoring the importance of the discussion, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria Mr Rabiu Yadudu.

He said national carrier would be a proper platform for the young pilots in the country to launch their carriers effectively and also commended the Enugu government for their support in the ongoing airport project which he assured is going smoothly and will be delivered on schedule.

Counting the gains of the Unions, Barr Illitrus Amadu said the incessant strikes which hitherto characterized the aviation sector had been curbed owing to a healthy relationship between the Unions and the administration. 

He expressed regret that the assets of the Nigerian airways across the nation were not sold off to save the airline which he said would have contributed greatly to the economy and growth of the sector had it been sustained.
