Avoid banana peels, cleric admonishes kwara governor

Renown Muslim cleric Sheikh HabeebuLlaah Adam el-ilory Sunday admonished governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara state to avoid banana peels from the ‘old regime even as he hailed ‘ him for being “magnanimous with power”.

The cleric said the governor’s resolve to unite the people and not pursue vendetta against political adversaries was a display of the large heart for which his father and community leader, AbdulGaniyu Folorunsho AbdulRazaq (SAN), was known.

“We pray to Allah to make your reign peaceful and beneficial to the people of Kwara who have suffered untold hardship in the past,” Sheikh el-ilory said during a ‘congratulatory’ visit to the governor and his family in Ilorin, the state capital.

“All Kwarans are orphans and it is your duty to take care of them as Allah has commanded. We urge you to continue along the path of peace. We also urge you to avoid the banana peels from the ‘old regime’.

“Some often destroy and corrupt the earth with whatever power they have. But when you got power, you overlooked people’s excesses to get things done and put things in shape. People often take after their parents/progenitors. We aren’t surprised at your magnanimity with powers. You have been known to be a good and generous person. We urge you to continue along that path and you will succeed by God’s grace.

“All Kwarans are orphans and you are the father to all. Be good to all. Once you do that, you are being grateful to God.”
