AWCON Qualifiers: Super Falcons confront Gambia today

The Super Falcons of Nigeria will this evening (Wednesday) confront their counterparts from Gambia in the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifying tie in Banjul.

The reigning Africa women’s champions, Super Falcons, flew into Gambia on Monday and have been training at the FIFA Goal Project (Technical Training Centre) in Banjul.

The winner between the Super Falcons and Gambia over two legs will qualify for this year’s AWCON holding in Ghana later in the year

The Super Falcons official Twitter handle wrote yesterday that “Later this evening by 4pm (5pm Nigerian time), we will have a feel of the Independence Stadium, Bakau, venue of our AWCON 2018 qualifier showdown with Gambia on Wednesday.

The return leg of the AWCON qualifier between the Super Falcons and Gambia comes up on Monday, June 11 probably in Benin, Edo- state capital.

The 2018 AWCON which will start on November 17 and end December 1, will serve as qualifiers for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
