B/Haram: New Operation Lafiya Dole commander urges media support

New Theatre Commander, Oppression Lafiya Dole, Maj.-Gen Rogers Nicholas, has appealed to the media to be objective in their reportage and assist the Nigeria military end the Boko Haram insurgency.
He also assured that the Nigerian military was determined to end the crisis soon and solicited for the support and cooperation of the government, troops, media and people in giving out intelligence about suspicious elements in their midst or hideouts near their communities.
Nicholas, who stated this yesterday in his maiden press briefing with journalists immediately after taking over from his predecessor, Maj.- Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, who has been redeployed to the Nigerian Army Headquarters Department of Policy and Plans, maintained that “the game is not over until it’s over.”
The theater commander added that the troops were in high spirit and were ready to clear the remnants of the terrorists while calling on the troops and other security agencies to cooperate and support the new strategies to be put in place to tackle the situation.
He pledged to give out useful information always on the activities of the theater command while pledging to discharge his assigned responsibility given to him by the COAS diligently and honestly towards actualising the purpose and mission of the theatre command.
The theatre commander noted further that success could not be achieved without the collective efforts of all and sundry, pointing out that, his doors were always open for information and confirmation, and called on everybody to participate in the fight against the Boko Haram terrorists, pointing out that the Nigerian military alone could not finish the task without the support and cooperation of the government, the public and the media.
He, however, stressed that the Nigerian military were also Nigerians who deserved support and cooperation to protect the integrity and image of the country while appealing to the media to always carry out their reports objectively with facts and figures.
