BAFEM CUP 2021: Football best way out of insecurity – Bamisile

Title sponsor of the 2021 BAFEM CUP Rt.Honourable Femi Bamisile, has said that football is one of the tools in solving Nigeria’s insecurity issues.

While speaking to journalists at the kick of the BAFEM CUP on Friday at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti, Bamisile stated that football as a unifying factor, should be one of the tools to curb the high rate of insecurity and crime currently bedeviling the country.

“Looking at the time we found ourselves in the country with security issues, kidnapping and all other vices, we need something like football to bring us together and make us feel there’s a better tomorrow,” he said.

Bamisile further remarked that the competition will bring the best out of Ekiti youth in football, adding that football scouts from the Netherlands will be available to watch and pick talents as the competition progresses.

Meanwhile, four matches were played on matchday one of the competition. In the first game, Ado United defeated Lionsgate FA 2-0, Jimlas Fc, and Agbana Wonderful Academy settled for a 1-1 draw.

In the women’s category, EKSU Lioness scored a late goal to clinch all 3 points to win against FUOYE Dazzlers queens.

The last match of the day, between Ikere United and EKSU Galacticos lived up to its pre-match hype as Ikere United came from a goal down to win 2-1 in a very nervy encounter.

The 2021 BAFEM CUP packaged by the Ekiti State football association under the leadership of Bayo Olanlege continues on Monday at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado Ekiti.
