Bala distributes 600 KEKE NAPEPs to operators in Bauchi

Following the ban on commercial motorcyclists otherwise known as ‘Achaba’ in Bauchi state, the state governor Bala Mohammed, Thursday distributed 600 KEKE NAPEPs to the members of the Achaba association on loan.

The governor during the distribution explained that this was the second phase of the distribution as he recently gave out 400 to them.

According to him, the gesture was to bring succour to the Achaba operators banned so that they could continue to earn a living.

He said the vehicles were distributed to them on loan adding that the beneficiaries would repay in two years.

Bala also said that the state government has passed into law a bill for the establishment of Bauchi state Road Transport Agency (BAROTA) charged with the responsibility of enforcing traffic rules in the state.

The governor urged the agency to commence work in earnest lamenting that some motorists and motorcyclists drive recklessly thereby causing accidents on metropolitan roads.
