Bala sets up screening panel over salary delay

To address the complaint of civil servants working in various organizations in Bauchi state over non payment of salaries for some months, the state governor has set up a committee to verify those omitted in the civil service payroll.


The committee Thursday commenced the physical screening exercise across the three senatorial zones with assurance of settling all the outstanding salaries of both local governments and state workers before the end April this year.

When a team of journalists inspected the conduct of the exercise at Alkaleri local government area, the committe was attending to the affected civil servants numbering over 200.

Speaking on their experience, one of the committee Members and  Deputy Accountant General Inspectorate  Muhammad Sagir Abdullahi said most of the problems identified were mistake in account and Bank verification numbers, names mismatched and reversal of salary payment due to network problem.

He assured that those cleared by the committee will receive their outstanding salaries in one week time calling on all affected workers to present documents that would prove their cases.


Also Speaking the Chairman of Alkaleri local government Alh Yusuf Garba who commended the governor for the commitment to solve the salary problem called for support and cooperation towards the success of the exercise.

Yusuf Garba who is the ALGON Chairman described the decision to allow the local councils manage the nominal and payroll of their workers as a step in right direction.
