Bala to fertiliser coy: Sell commodity to genuine farmers

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has launched the sale of fertilizer for the 2021 farming season with instruction that the state fertilizer company should sell the commodity directly to farmers.

The governor launched the fertilizer sale at Soro in Ganjuwa local government where he announced that Urea fertilizer would be sold at N11, 000 per bag which is a subsidized rate as the government bought it at the rate of N11,500.

He also said that NPK fertilizer would be sold to the farmers at subsidized price of N9, 000 per bag subsidizing the sum of N500 having bought it at the rate of N9,500 per bag from the federal government.

Bala promised that his administration would continue to promote agricultural production in order to ensure food availability and security because he said with availability of food, hunger and poverty would reduce.

He stated that in order to make the assorted fertilizer readily available for the real farmers across the state, government has procured 100 trailers at the cost of over N120 million which are to be sold directly to the farmers.
