Ban on political gathering in Zamfara undemocratic – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Zamfara state branch has lambasted the office of the state commissioner of police, Usman Nagoggo for banning all forms of political gatherings in the state. The party described the action as undemocratic.

This was made known by the party Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Maigandi Danmalikin Gidangoga at a social media stakeholders meeting held at the party secretariat in Gusau Sunday.

He said the commissioner has no power to stop APC from conducting its political gathering and activities in the state. He warned the police chief to stop pointing fingers at members of APC in the state.

“The commissioner of police has no power to stop us from conducting our political gathering in the state.  As long as we are doing it within the ambit of the laws, he can’t stop us.  If he is interested in partisan politics, let him remove his uniform and join us,”  Gidangoga stated.

Last week, the office of the police commissioner, Usman Nagoggo issued a strong warning in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Sp. Muhammad Shehu which banned all forms of political gathering by political parties in the state.

Gidangoga said APC in the state has strongly condemned against scrapping the state university projects by the state government under the leadership of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle which was awarded by the former administration of Abdulaziz Yari.

He said, over N7 billion has been spent for the establishment and take off of the state university situated in Talata Mafara town,  headquarters of Talata Mafara local government by the former administration of Yari, describing the transition committee suggestions to stop the contract as undemocratic and unpatriotic attempt to kill education sector in the state.

The transition committee of Governor Matawalle under the chairmanship of former Deputy Governor, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala in its preliminary reports suggested the scrapping of the state university projects awarded by the former administration of Yari for what the committee described as lack of capacity to run the university by the state government.

Alhaji Gidan Goga said no amount of intimidation or pressure can make the people to leave APC to another party in the state. He called on members of APC in the state to remain law abiding citizens and remain in one umbrella for the progress of the party in Zamfara state
