Banditry: Izala group blames politicians, seeks empowerment for orphans

A prominent Islamic scholar, Sheikh Bala Lau has accused some politicians of sponsoring and fuelling terrorist activities in Nigeria to achieve political end.

Lau, who is the national chairman of Izalatu Bidia Waiqamatu Sunnah (JIBWIS), spoke with newsmen in Katsina over the weekend.

He said Boko Haram and banditry in North-east and North-west were being sponsored to dent the image and create problems for the current Nigeria leadership.

“Security challenges are the creation of some politicians; they are using the situation to campaign and achieve political ambition.

“Our problem in Nigeria is failure of the government to punish people who violated the law. Government should ensure criminals and their sponsors test the wrath of the law,” he said.

Lau called on the administration of President Buhari to rise up to the security challenges and ensure that those behind the development are punished.

He also called on Nigerians to repent and seek God’s intervention to end the security problems facing the country.

Lau, who was in Katsina for the commissioning of Mariya Orphanage Home constructed by former Senator Sadiq Yar’Adua, called on wealthy individuals to take care of orphans within their communities to prevent them from joining terrorist groups.

“If you fail to take care of the needs of our orphans, they will later become security problem in Nigeria,” he warned.
