Banditry: Rep lauds Masari’s peace accord, hails NEMA over relief materials

Member of House of Representatives for Dutsinma/Kurfi Federal Constituency, Hon. Armaya’u Abdulkadir, has commended Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina state for his efforts in initiating peace accord with armed bandits to restore peace in the state. 

Hon. Armaya’u also commended the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for providing relief materials worth millions of naira to victims of banditry at Kurecin Giye in Dutsinma Local Government Area and Wurma Village in Kurfi Local Government Area both of Katsina state.

A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer to the lawmaker, Malam Abdu Bawa Dutsinma and made available to Blueprint in Kaduna on Thursday, said that Hon. Armaya’u, who facilitated the provision of the materials, expressed appreciation to NEMA and Katsina State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) for giving him the needed support to assist the victims from his constituency.

The relief materials distributed to the victims of banditry include bags of maize, rice, beans, salt and jerry cans of cooking oil, as well as mattresses, nets, bedsheets and rubber mats among others.

Speaking during the distribution of the relief materials at Kurecin Giye, Hon. Armaya’u expressed satisfaction “with the way normalcy has returned to most of the areas affected by the activities of the armed bandits”. He appreciated the effort of Governor Aminu Masari “for initiating peace accord with the armed bandits, it restated government’s determination towards protecting lives and properties of people in the state.”

“I want to urge our people in this area to cooperate with the security agencies for more successes, i equally urge you to continue to pray to Almighty Allah to prevent reoccurrence of such problem in Katsina state and Nigeria. I urge our people in the Dutsinma/Kurfi Constituency to continue to live in peace with one another and work hard for development of the area. I will continue to introduce programmes that would improve the wellbeing of our people.” 

The Director General, National Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Mustapha Mai Haja, who was represented by NEMA North West Coordinator, Mr. Isiyaku Ishaya Chinaku said that the legislator struggled a lot to ensure that NEMA provides the relief materials to the victims. “Hon. Armaya’u is an honest and hardworking leader, who always struggle for things that would improve the welfare of his people.”

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary State Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Babangida Mohammed Nasamu, represented by Illiya Ibrahim, appreciated the effort of Alhaji Armaya’u Abdulkadir for using his office to secure the relief materials for his people, and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the relief materials given to them. 

One of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Adamu Umaru Kuncin Giye and Adama Wurma commended Hon. Armaya’u Abdulkadir and NEMA for the relief materials.
