Banditry: We’ll use more dialogue, less force –Zamfara CP

The newly deployed Commissioner of Police to Zamfara state, CP Usman Nagoggo, has said he is in Zamfara state to dialogue with armed bandits who terrorise the state for dialogue with a view to have sustainable peace in the state.

Nagoggo, who stated this while addressing a press conference in his office on shortly after he assumed office on Friday, said in attaining peace, more of dialogue and less use of force against the bandits was desirable.

“To me, the use of dialogue and boardroom discussion positively affects the outcome of most conflict. So, I must ensure peace is restored in the state through peaceful dialogue with bandits,” he said.

The police boss further stated that part of his priority would include community participation, group engagement and interaction with traditional rulers.

“Modern policing requires intelligence and it is also my convictions that, intelligence-based approach will help to secure and guarantee reliable information to the police in carrying out their constitutional role of detection and prevention of crime,” Nagoggo added.
