Banditry: Zamfara gov procures 200 operational vehicles for security agencies

Zamfara state government has purchased 200 operational Hilux vans for distribution to security agencies with a view to help them fight banditry in the state.

This was made known by the Special Adviser to the governor on Public Enlightenment, Media and Communication, Malam Zailani Bappa in a statement issued to Newsmen in Gusau at the end of the joint security meeting chaired by Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle on Saturday.

He said the Hilux vans would be handed to security agencies by Governor Matawalle.

According to the statement, Matawalle commended the federal government for launching a special Military operation that will cover the entire states of the North-west.

He said, “Already, the state Government has stepped up its fight against banditry as it continues to escalate in neighbouring states of Katsina and Sokoto and for the past one week, two squadrons of the Nigeria Police were established in the state”.

Governor added that the meeting was the final stage at arresting the impending threat to the acquired peace in the state, reiterating the commitment of his administration to deal decisively with anyone or group attempting to wind the hands of the clock backwards.
