Bandits kidnap 2 OOU female students in Ogun


Two female students of the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Aiyetoro Campus in Yewa North Local Government area of Ogun State have been kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be bandits.


Blueprint report that the incident occurred when the bandits stormed Igbole Aibo Quarters shooting sporadically at about 9pm Sunday.


It was further gathered that the suspected bandits targeted a female call card voucher bulk dealer living in the area. 


The abducted female students have been identified as Adeyemo Oluwaseun Precious a 300 level Forestry and Wildlife Management and Oyefule Oluwatosin Abisola a 300 level, Agricultural Economics.


Confirming the incident, the Deputy Registrar, Corporate Affairs Unit of the institution, Mr. Niyi Oduwole, described  it as unfortunate, adding that the management is on top of the situation in ensuring the safe return of the students.
“The incident is most unfortunate. The university is beefing up security around all our campuses and hostels.


“We sympathise with parents of the victims and we want to assure them that their wards will be rescued unhurt. We are on top of the situation”, Odusile said.


Mainwhile, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi who also confirmed the abduction, disclosed that the police were doing everything possible to ensure the safe return of the students. 

Oyeyemi, however, said the police were yet to ascertain whether the abductors are bandits.


“They (students) have their house in one isolated area, and on their way coming to the house, the abductors accosted them and abducted them. 


“We are on top of it, the Anti-kidnapping unit are on the trail of the kidnappers while the Area Commander of Ayetoro division is coordinating the rescue operation. 


“The entire area has been cordoned off and we are doing everything possible to make sure that the students are rescued unhurt and hopefully we will rescue them.


“We are yet to ascertain the identities of the kidnappers. It will be too hasty now to conclude that they are certain people”, Oyeyemi maintained.
