Bandits kill 15 in Katsina

Despite the ongoing military operations to tackle insecurity in the state, bandits Monday, killed 15 people in an attack on ‘Yar Gamji village of Batsari local government area of Katsina state.

Katsina police command spokesman, SP Gambo Isah, who confirmed the incident noted that the bandits numbering over 200, riding on motorcycles, attacked the village around 10:00 am on Monday.

He explained that, on arriving the village, the bandits started shooting sporadically  killing 15 people and injuring several others.

According to him, security agencies operating in that area mobilised and chased the bandits away before they could cause more damage.

Blueprint recalled that the Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. General had launched the Exercise Sahel Sanity for the North-west aimed at rooting out the bandits when the hoodlums struck in the state.

 The state government said it has spent the sum of N6.4 billion in fighting banditry activities in five years of the APC administration in the state.
