Bandits kill 19 in Zamfara 

No fewer than 19 people have been killed by  a group of armed bandits in Riyoji village under Birnin Tsaba district of Zurmi local government area in Zamfara state. 

A resident of the area, Lawali Birnin Tsaba, in a telephone interview, said the bandits invaded the village at around 10:00pm Wednesday and began shooting sporadically into the air.

He said those trying to escape from the attack were shot dead.

“Those killed by the bandits during the attack were shot while attempting to escape from the attack, ” he said.

He said all the deceased were buried today in the presence of military men that gave the communities security cover in the village.

He further said majority of the communities, mainly women and children have fled to Birnin Tsaba and Dauran towns for their safety.

“As I am talking to you now, hundreds of Riyoji village communities were fled to Birnin Tsaba and Dauran towns for safety,” he said.

He appealed to the federal government to come to the aide of communities of Zurmi local government from the incessant activities of terrorists in the area .
