Bank trains, gives grants to corps entrepreneurs


The Unity Bank of Nigeria, in collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has trained and empowered corps members with grants to set up their own busunesses after the  service year.


According to the statement made available to Blueprint by the office of the Director-General of NYSC, Brig-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, Sunday, the focus was on the bank’s  empowerment of corps members through the corpentreneuship programme.           

  
“Corps members that met the requirements were selected and trained by the bank and given grant to set up their businesses. First set of beneficiaries are doing well. The Bank intends to escalate the scope further, “the statement reads in part.


The DG NYSC and the MD/CEO Unity Bank, Mrs Tomi Shomefu, enjoined the corps members presently undergoing training to take advantage of the programme to become “captains of industries tomorrow”. General Ibrahim commended the bank for its patriotic zeal in supporting the corps members to be self-dependent instead of searching for jobs at the completion of  their servicr year.
