Bankole Arts begins one-week exhibition today

Danladi Bankole Bako under his trade name Bankole Arts is set to hold a one-week arts exhibition at the FCT Arts Exhibition Parvilion, Abuja.

Bako stated this at a press briefing ahead of a grand exhibition which is coming up at 6pm today till Saturday 28 of April.
According to him, the exhibition which is tagged: ‘Silhouette of Words’ has a religious undertone aimed at showcasing the life of Christ and Christianity.

“These symbolic ‘crucifixes’ represent the chronology of Christ life and mission on earth. It is also a way of connecting generations by passing on the religious heritage as seasonality of life.

“Art and Christianity have been interrelating in so many ways, because Christianity is about touching life, preaching values and providing sources of identities.

“We have a family history of evangelism. This has great influence in me and has dominated my childhood view and understanding which basically focused on finding collective purpose.

“Hence, the core of these works could be likened to an extension of the dimensions of my family evangelistic commitment,” he noted.

Speaking on the uniqueness of the exhibition, Bako said the audience should expect to see crafted a ‘crucifix’ using recycled papers, traditional talking drums and many other arts innovations courtesy of Bankole Arts
“The crucifixes are interactive because they contain details of Christ’s life on earth. Another one signifies the coming of Christianity into Africa and so many other revelations that is reserved for the D-day,” he pointed out.

Bako, therefore, called on the government to participate more in developing more in arts across the country because, according to him, arts tell a lot on the society and its history.

Also speaking, the representative of chairman of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Arts and Culture, Lawal Abdulssalam pledged to support Bako in all areas of needs.
