Bauchi

The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi state has deepened with the sacking of the chairman of the party in Ganjuwa local government area, Yakubu Kafin Galadima, over alleged financial propriety.
Galadima’s removal was disclosed at a press conference held yesterday at Kafi Madaki and addressed by the party executive members led by their secretary, Muhammad Nasiru Inuwa Kafi, in company with other members.
According to the party scribe, the former chairman has been informed of his removal from office through a letter dated 26th February, 2018.
Reading the letter to journalists, Kafi stated that the former chairman was removed from office as he had committed offences contrary to Articles 22 and 23 of the APC Constitution.
According to the letter, the former chairman was given opportunities to defend himself on the allegations levelled against him, but he either refused or neglected such opportunities.
Based on this, the letter stated that a vote of no confidence is passed on him and was therefore dismissed as the chairman of the party in the local government area in accordance with the party’s constitution.
“You have been found wanting on series of financial mismanagement and misconduct both in breach of articles 22 and 23 of our great party constitution. Despite all opportunities given to you to offer satisfactory explanation, but neglect and/or refuse as such, we, therefore, pass a vote of no confidence against you and hereby stand dismissed, as our party chairman pursuant to the above mentioned Article 21(I), (II) and (III),” it read in part.
The letter, signed by 26 members, including executive members, added that the offences committed by the former chairman also contravened ‎Article 21(I) (II) and (III) of the party’s constitution.
It, therefore, requested that the removed chairman should immediately hand over the party’s machinery.
The letter was copied to the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Uba Ahmed Nana, the APC national headquarters, the North-east zonal national vice-chairman and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Ganjuwa.
The state Director of the Department of State Service (DSS) and the Bauchi state commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were also copied.
Meanwhile, the party secretary informed that the removed chairman had been replaced by Jibrin Abubakar Balogun.
