Bauchi APC governorship candidate, humanitarian minister cast vote

The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Bauchi State, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar retired and his wife, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouk, have cast their votes at Zirami Kofar Fada 001, in Giade Local Government area of the state.

Abubakar while speaking to journalists commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for improving in the electoral process and for the introduction of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS).

He said: “So far, so good for the areas I visited. I voted at Zirami, Kofar Fada Ward and everything was conducted in an orderly manner. I saw people waiting patiently in the queue to cast their votes and there are those who have voted and I am happy that they’ve been given the opportunity to exercise their constitutional duty.

“Inside Giade, reports indicate that everything is moving on well for now. Of course, we have many agents outside Zirami and Giade and we are closely monitoring it.

“I want to commend INEC for the way they conducted the election in Zirami town, they were out on time and I also want to commend the great improvement in the election by INEC.

“I also want to commend the people for being so patient even under the hot sun.”

Also speaking, his wife Sadiya Farouk commended the people for their massive turnout especially the women and youths.

“There weren’t any issues or hitches either with the BVAS or any other issue. There has always been a large turnout of women, they have always been the ones voting. I’m not surprised with what I’ve seen and it is because they know their rights that’s why they came out to exercise them,” she said.
