Bauchi: APC tags PDP ‘a democratic kidnapper,’ rejects council election results

The All Progressive Congress in Bauchi State has rejected the local government council elections conducted on Saturday in the State.

Chairman of the Party in Bauchi Alhaji Uba Ahmed Nana in a press conference in Bauchi described the Local Government elections as a “daylight robbery.

Mr. Nana argued that the APC in Bauchi State had won all the elective positions across the 20 LGAs of the state, but was out rightly rigged by the People’s Democratic Party.

“Most unfortunately, some security personnel were used by the PDP and BASIEC in making false declaration of winners based on unlawful results.
“we reject in totality, the purported results and declaration of winners of the local government elections as effected by the PDP and BASIECE on the 17th of October, 2020.

“Any person who sworn-in to office based on the unlawful PDP/BASIEC results shall be occupying the seat illegally and without the support of his people”, Mr Uba Nana said during the press conference.

He said the APC in Bauchi State does not have confidence on the elections petitions tribunal as constituted by the PDP led-administration in Bauchi, arguing that most of the judges are card carrying members of the PDP.

“Two of the Chairmen and some members of the Local Government Election Tribunal are partisan politicians who constantly identify with the ruling People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Bauchi State.

“Some of them are certified PDP members and they have handled several election petitions for PDP, particularly in the 2019 National and State Assembly Election Tribunal in Bauchi State”,Mr Nana alleges.

He Said the APC will soon unveil its next move and position regarding the councils’ elections in the State.

Responding, Alhaji Hamza Koshe Akuyam the Chairman People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the state denied all the allegations levelled against them by the APC.

Mr. Akuyam in a telephone interview said majority of members of the electoral body in Bauchi State were appointed by the previous government, as such the PDP had no basis to use them in rigging the elections.
