Bauchi disburses N300m for fertilizer revolving scheme


Bauchi state government has disbursed the sum of N300 million to the Bauchi State Agricultural Supply Company (BASAC) for the revolving scheme on fertilizer blending and distribution to farmers in the state. 


The state commissioner of agriculture and rural development, Samaila Burga stated this Wednesday during the opening ceremony of a five day workshop for the staff of the company.


He said that the revolving scheme is aimed at eliminating all hindrances to availability of the commodity to peasant farmers across the state.


Burga said that in order to ensure that the farmers get fertilizer without hitches, the government released the sum to BASAC as a revolving scheme to procure fertilizer from the blending company, sell it to the farmers and go for another round of supply.


“With that, there will be no break in the supply of the commodity “. The commissioner said.


Earlier, General Manager of BASAC, Engineer Ibrahim Yusha’u Isah said that the training is in conjunction with Namus Agric Consult Nigeria limited pointing out that man power training and capacity development is a panacea for achieving the goals and effectiveness of the company.


He said the company was established in 1981 to assist farmers in the state through the provision of agricultural inputs at affordable price to boost farming and economy of the state.
