Bauchi govt spends N25m monthly on clerics

Bauchi state government has said that it spends over N25 million monthly as allowances to teachers of Qur’anic Tsangaya schools in the state.
The state Director-General on Tsangaya Education, Sayyadi Aliyu Dahiru Bauchi, said the government gives N5, 000 monthly to each of the over 5, 000 tsangaya school teachers.

Bauchi, who was speaking yesterday at the graduation ceremony of 120 Tsangaya Alarammas who underwent a three-month training course at the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Education Foundation Centre, said the course was conducted by the Office of the Director-General on Tsangaya Education in collaboration with the state Adult and Non formal Education Agency (ANFEA).

During the training, participants were exposed to various subjects in education including Computer, English, Arithmetic, and other science related subjects.
He described as very vital the 21st century technological age computer educated being impacted into the Tsangaya Alarammas, and urged the state government not to relent in its efforts.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the state Sharia Commission, Ustaz Mustapha Baba Ilelah, advised the Alarammas to shun tendencies detrimental to their education.
Ilelah represented the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Salisu Bara’u, at the graduation ceremony which was also graced by representatives of the Commissioner for Education and ANFEA.
