Bauchi NLC lauds Gov Bala for lifting embargo on employment

The Bauchi state Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Friday commended Governor Bala Mohammed for lifting the embargo on employment in the state’s civil service.

The state chairman, Comrade Dauda Shuaibu, who gave the commendation while speaking with newsmen in Bauchi, pointed out that the “decision of the present administration to allow for the employment of youth into the civil service is a welcome development.”

Shuaibu said the decision of Governor Bala to grant approval for the recruitment of over 1, 680 workers across various Ministries, Departments and Agencies across the state “is long overdue considering the large numbers of civil servants that are retiring on a daily basis.”

He said, “Governor Bala Mohammad has approved the recruitment of 1000, teachers of core subjects including English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and ICT as well as 154 staff at Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare. Also, he granted approval for the Ministry of Agriculture to recruit 206 extension workers and farm managers. This is a welcome development.

“We want to use this medium to congratulate the governor on his successful inauguration as the governor for the second term in office. NLC is a partner in progress towards development of the state.”
