Bauchi pilgrims to be airlifted to Saudi Arabia July 24

Bauchi state intending pilgrims will be airlifted to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj operation Wednesday evening.

The state Amirul Hajj and Deputy Governor Baba Tela disclosed this Tuesday during a farewell ceremony to the pilgrims organised by the state government, held at multi-purpose hall, Bauchi.

He said he set up sub-committees who went to Saudi Arabia and made provisions for befitting accommodations and other needs of the pilgrims, urging them to be good ambassadors of the state by their conducts at the holy land.

Also speaking, Governor Bala Mohammed said government had rented hotels close to the central mosque Mecca which is less than one kilometer away from it to ease transportation challenges for them.

He said the state government would also donate the sum of 300 riyals to the 1, 985 pilgrims of the state to enable them cater for themselves at the holy land in addition to the women cooks recruited to prepare ‘Masa’ for distribution to the pilgrims free of charge.

The governor noted that the state government had earlier put N20, 000 subsidy in the hajj fare paid by each pilgrim from the state.
