Bauchi state police command has debunked a report carried by the Hausa service of the Voice of America (VOA) recently insinuating that the recent armed robbery attack in Dambam local government area of the state was perpetrated by police officers in the area.

Addressing journalists Wednesday at the headquarters, the state police commissioner, CP Philip Maku, who refuted the story, stated that the police arrested three suspects behind the robbery.

” It may interest the general public to know that discreet investigation in the case had led to the arrest of three suspects as follows; Shehu Abdullahi, 20 years, Babawuro Jauro Sani, 27 years and  Wada Wakili Musa.

” The above mentioned suspects conspired with seven others now at large on 18/02/2020 at about 3am armed with dane guns, machetes, sticks, knives and other dangerous weapons, barricaded the Kano-Maiduguri federal highway with log of woods and attacked a Sharon vehicle with registration number XA-300-ABS conveying passengers traveling from Kebbi to Maiduguri and robbed them of their belongings,” he said.

The police commissioner noted that sequel to the investigation on the audio record aired on international radio station, Voice of America (VOA Hausa) and injurious comments on Facebook against the police as being responsible for the armed robbery attack, suspects including the person that granted interview to VOA and another person who allegedly made inciting post on Facebook on the matter have been nabbed.
