Bauchi shares food to 11, 500 Alkaleri, Ganjuwa LGs’ households

In continuation of the distribution of palliatives to the needy in parts of the state following the outbreak of coronavirus in the country, the Bauchi state government has shared foodstuffs to 6, 500 households in Alkaleri local government.

Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleimanu Adamu, who is the chairman state palliatives committee flagged off the distribution at the local government secretariat.

Represented by the Chief Imam of Bauchi Central Mosque, Malam Bala Baban Inna, the emir explained that the poorest citizens were targeted to benefit from the gesture with a view to mitigating the economic predicament caused them by COVID-19 partial lockdown.

The emir, who noted that the pandemic had affected many businesses nationwide, urged the general public to continue to comply with the coronavirus regulations so that they could remain hale and hearty.

The committee also distributed similar palliatives to 5, 000 households in Ganjuwa local government.

The committee chairman said the state government had taken serious measures to prevent further spread of the virus, saying the state in the past couple of months recorded very few cases.

He pledged that government would come up with more empowerment and poverty alleviation programmes to the downtrodden citizens.
