Bayelsa Assembly member, APC chair fight in public over mode of primary

A member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Wilson Dauyegha and the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jothan Amos have been sighted in viral video engaging in hot argument in public.

Why the duo were at loggerheads could not be ascertained immediately but a party member in the State, who explained what ensued in the video alleged that the lawmaker attacked the APC chieftain and vandalised party’s property.

Also, a twitter user, who was familiar with the development, Fatima Oyelami with the handle @MsTyma_ confirmed that the incident happened.

Dauyegha, a known political ally of the immediate past minister of state for agriculture, Heineken Lokpobiri, represents Ekeremor Constituency II in the Bayelsa state House of Assembly.

The party chairman, however, resisted attempts to fight back, but instead remained calm, and asked his driver to take him away from the area.

The lawmaker was also seen in the video tearing the document where the resolution was signed by stakeholders of the party.

It was gathered that the fight ensued after stakeholders in APC met with State Working Committee of the party to discuss on mode of primaries that should be adopted for governorship primaries holding in August.

Oyelami had tweeted, “A member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly Hon Wilson Dauyegha attacked the chairman of the APC @OfficialAPCNg in Bayelsa State Hon Jothan Amos (ESQ) and he also vandalized the party’s property over a joint resolution on Direct primaries for the party primaries. https://t.co/8VYKqq1Bbt”.
