Bayelsa gov: APC ‘ll win through ballots, not guns – Oshiomhole

The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Comrade Adam Oshiomole, has declared that the party will win the forthcoming governorship elections in Bayelsa state through the ballots and not through guns like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Oshiomole, said the recent crisis that led to the impeachment of the former Speaker after several shootings by suspected thugs at the State House of Assembly to the level of desperation of the Bayelsa state governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson.

Oshiomole, who addressed the Chiefs, Elders, APC stalwarts, women and youth groups of Ogbia at the official flag-offf of the APC Gubernatorial campaign at Ogbia town, on Monday.

The national leader noted that the party is coming for a contest, appealed to the PDP in the state that the time for change has come, adding that for the large crowd gathered at a short notice to identify with the party shows the people are tired of suffering.

“My appeal to my friend, governor Dickson, I understand the withdrawal syndrome because I was once a governor, the election has been won already, and our candidate David Lyon, has come to correct the wrongs.

“By the grace of God, this election will be an example of how a man can rise from a small community to becoming a great leader. He won’t build an airport that he won’t fly to, he won’t betray the people and disrespect the elders.”

According to the leader of the APC in the state and former governor, Chief Timipre Sylva, Ogbia is known to be a blessed land, after the discovery of oil in 1956 which has become the mainstay of Nigeria’s economy.

He also said in 2010 a President of the country was made from the Ogbia land, adding that the party has brought the campaign to tap from the blessings of the land.

“PDP, the opposition party has been in power in the state, and currently a governor that has been leading the state for about 8 years, and still there’s no light. We had the Kolo creek gas turbine in place by former governors including myself, but today it’s dead, Ogbia that use to have power is now facing serious darkness.

“The Dickson led restoration government had received over N1.2 trillion naira since it’s inception with nothing tangible to show for it.

In his own, the flag bearer of the APC, Chief David Lyon, commended the people for coming out en-masse to liberate themselves from a ‘wicked government’ through a progressive process, noting that the state’s money will be used to develop the people and the state and not for an individual.

“When I come in, you will not serve me but I will be your servant. Two things l will do. I will fight insecurity efficiently. After that, what remains? It is going to be development, development, men,  and development. I will not disappoint you,” he added.
