Bayelsa moves to identify talents for movie industry

 The Bayelsa State Government has begun to discover youth with talents especially in the movie industry with the view to build a socity free of vices and enable the youths to be self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.

Speaking at the official launch of the short film titled “January 28” Bayelsa State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Godwin Konyefa said that the movie is first of its kind in the Niger Delta, as it Xrays the developmental programs of Governor Seriake Dickson. 


He pointed out that the movie shall continue to serve as a reference point for generations to come.


“the movie showcases the various Bayelsa talents in the creative industry and is geared towards celebrating the achievements of the Restoration Government.”


Mr. Michael Afenfia, who is the executive producer and scriptwriter, commended the cast and crew for their painstaking roles in making the blockbuster movie a reality.


He said,” I  was motivated to embark on the scriptwriting and production of this movie due to the impact of the policies and programs of the Restoration Government on the lives of the people of Bayelsa State.”


“Bayelsa youths are endowed with various talents and when properly harnessed could change their fortunes from the erroneously perceived militancy to productive entrepreneurs and employers of labor that can make a positive impact on the society.”

Other renowned Nollywood actor,  Mr. Columbus Irisonga applauded the efforts and vision of Mr. Afenfia, the initiator of the movie, for dramatising the Restoration Government’s achievements on screen and called on government at all levels to create the enabling environment for talents to strive.


They appealed to government to invest in the movie industry while describing it as a lucrative venture that can create employment opportunity for the teeming youths as they advised youths to key into the concept of the movie to enrich their lives and also change the narratives for the better.


It was shot in Yenagoa and captures on screen the giant strides and legacy projects, programs and policies of the Restoration Government led by  Honorable Henry Seriake Dickson.
