Bayelsa: What PDP guber candidate is asking from Jonathan’s men

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the November 16 election in Bayelsa state Senator Douye Diri has pleaded with the constituents of former President Goodluck Jonathan to vote for the party.

The PDP candidate, who is vying against Chief David Lyon of the APC, made the plea while campaigning in Otuokpoto, Kolo and Ogbia  Thursday.

He recalled that the people of Ogbia had always supported the PDP, stating that even the late Melford Okilo was  a strong PDP member, who till death never ceased to rally support for the party.

Senator Diri said that the PDP had provided the platform for the former president and son of Otuoke in Ogbia to become president, and urged the people to return the favour by ensuring that the relationship remains.

The senator said the PDP deeply appreciates their loyalty and would do everything possible to return the favour in due time.

The candidate, who promised to resolve resolve development challenges facing the residents of Ogbia as well as other parts of the state, assured them that voting the PDP into government would not only preserve the legacies of Okilo and Jonathan, facilitate infrastructural development of the area.

Also, Representative Fred Agbedi (Sagbama/Ekeremor) appealed to members of the party had for some grievances defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to return to PDP and join hands with the party to sustain development of the state.

Agbedi, who contested the PDP governorship primaries alongside Diri and 19 other aspirants, noted that the party was the best option for Bayelsa, having been in power since 1999. Other speakers including Chief Benson Agadaga, one of PDP leaders in the state, equally pleaded with Ogbia people to support Diri on November 16.
