Bayelsans will die to work for Atiku -Jonathan


Immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan has said the people of Bayelsa State will die to wotk for the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former vice president, Atiku Abubakar. 

Jonathan who state this at Bayelsa State on Tuesday during the PDP Presidential Campaign Rally, also described the former Vice President as a detribalised individual.  

He urged the people to vote for the party’s candidates at the presidential, National Assembly and state assembly election in the forthcoming polls. 

He said “This is somebody that appreciates Bayelsans, somebody that recognises Bayelsans, somebody that loves the Ijaw people. He is the kind of person that we Bayelsans must die to work for. He is the kind of person that will help us because he knows us, he has been relating with us. He is the kind of person that will bring the whole Nigeria together. 

“He is the kind of person that can look among us and say one of your sons can be a Chief of Army Staff, DG DSS, Inspector General of Police, Chief of Air Staff, Chief of Defence Staff or Minister of Defence because he has confidence in us and we also have confidence in him. Bayelsans, our eyes must be open, he added.

He continued “Let us not play politics of stomach and you mortgage the interest of your people. Politics is all about the people. Politics is not an individual business. And we have looked at all the candidates – all of them are good people – but among the good people you will get the best. Atiku is the best candidate. To be there in the State House, and use his hand lens and periscope and see the whole Nigeria as his constituency. And help to improve the qualiity of our lives,” he said. 

In his address, the PDP Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, said the governing APC has failed on its three campaign promises of fixing the economy, fighting corruption and tackling insecurity. 

He assured that if elected, the party would create jobs, ensure security of lives and properties and bring in foreign direct investments into the country. 

Also, National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus and Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson called on the people to vote enmasse for all the party’s candidates at the February 16 and March 2 elections.
