Bayern ready to ‘break bank’ for Hudson-Odoi capture

Bayern Munich are ready to smash their spending record this summer with Callum Hudson-Odoi top of their shopping list.

The Bundesliga giants were brushed aside by Liverpool in the Champions League in a defeat that signalled the end for the German side’s ageing squad.

Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are both 35 and expected to leave in the summer, while Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels are both 30.

The process has already begun with the signing of French defenders Lucas Hernandez from Atletico Madrid and Benjamin Pavon from Stuttgart for a combined total of £100million.

But according to Bild the spending won’t stop there, with sporting director Hasan Salihamdizic set to go back in for Hudson-Odoi.

Chelsea’s new England international was the subject of four failed bids by Bayern in January and he has told the club he will not sign a new deal.

SunSport exclusively revealed the Blues have not spoken to the winger or his representatives about a new deal since January, with no talks in the pipeline, leaving the door open for Bayern to pounce.

Bayern are also chasing Bayer Leverkusen midfielder £64m-rated Kai Havertz, while they also want his team-mate Julian Brandt, who operates on the wing.

Bild also believe the Bundesliga champions want to freshen up their striker options and have a deal in place for RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner, whose contract ends in 2020.

Ajax’s attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Luka Jovic are other names on their radar.

Despite being on course for their seventh title on the bounce, boss Niko Kovac was never going to be judged on domestic success.

He has to win the Champions League, something the club has not achieved since beating Borussia Dortmund at Wembley in 2013.
