BCO suspends Pasali, names Ibrahim as national coordinator

The Buhari Campaign Organisation (BCO) has suspended its national coordinator, Alhaji Danladi Pasali, over alleged abuse of office.

Accordingly, the group announced the appointment of Malam Gidado Ibrahim as the new national coordinator.

Until his appointment, Ibrahim was the director of communications and strategic planning of the BCO.

A letter by the BCO dated September 17, 2020, noted that the suspension of the former national coordinator and subsequent appointment of Ibrahim followed a myriad of allegations of corruption, high-handedness and breach of agreement signed with the organisation when he was appointed on May 17, 2017.

It also announced the nullification of all appointments made by the former national coordinator without consulting the chairman of the board of trustees.

The letter partially read: “Alhaji Pasali’s one-man show forced many important members of the organisation to resign. He was also accused of unilaterally issuing appointment to people without consulting the chairman of Board of trustee and executive members.

“Mr. Pasali was in the habit of diverting the activities of the organisation to other locations, and failed as the national coordinator to update the rent of facility housing the BCO office; hence causing the organisation embarrassment from the harassment by the landlord of the facility. A copy of the notice of expiration of the office rent is attached to the statement. What is more annoying than the flagrant refusal of Alhaji Pasali to pay utility bills of the office and allowances to police officers attached to the organisation.”

The organisation also cited the resignation of its deputy national coordinator (North & Diaspora), Amb. Hussaini H Coomassie, over what he termed neglect and unconstitutional means of doing things by Pasali.

In an interview, Commassie had complained that though many of the members sacrificed a lot in making sure President Buhari was returned as president, only few of them sacrificed time, energy and finance in prosecuting the agenda.

The letter announcing the changes was also copied to President Buhari; Abdullahi Maikano, A.O. Presidential Villa; director-general of DSS; Inspector-General of Police; Secretary to the Government of the Federation; director-general, Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA); the Nigeria Police Force, FCT Command, and the national security adviser (NSA), and APC caretaker chairman.
