Be sensitive to needs of people, Gov Ahmed tells aides

Kwara state Governor Abdualfatah Ahmed has charged his new aides to be conscious of the aspirations of the people they represent, to make democracy more meaningful to Nigerians .
He said political office holders must always uphold the principles of good governance, the rule of law and adhere to equity.
Governor Ahmed gave the charge at the swearing-in of 13 of new Special Advisers, stressing that such had become imperative due to increased political awareness, as a result of advance in technology and the emergence of social media.
“As politicians, we must heed these calls by conducting ourselves with integrity, constantly striving to exceed our people’s expectations and keeping in mind that power, like everything else in life, is transient,” he said.
The governor informed the new appointees that their appointments were based on demonstrated capacities and record of achievement.
He advised them to settle down to their assigned duties and imbibe the administration’s passion for high performance and collective prosperity.
Ahmed said that his administration remained determined to sustain equity and spread in the distribution of social goods such an infrastructure and jobs.
“Our forthcoming youth empowerment intervention, Quick Win, and socio economic capital projects are based on established need and geographical spread.
“All parts of the State, no matter how remotely located, will therefore, benefit from these intervention and the impact,” he added.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues, the new Special Adviser, Communication Strategy, Alhaji Raheem Adedoyin, said they would discharge their duties diligently.
