Oyo state governor and chairman of the state COVID-19 Task Force, Seyi Makinde, weekend said there is no big deal about testing positive to coronavirus pandemic.
Makinde stated this while speaking at the commissioning of the upgraded Agbami Isolation Centre, Jericho, Ibadan. He said in view of this, coronavirus should not be regarded as death sentence.
The governor emphasised that with the present situation it is glaring that COVID-19 “is here with us and will be here for some time to come. There is the need for us to learn how to live with it.
“I battled COVID-19. It is not a death sentence and it is nothing to be ashamed of. The virus is here with us and will be here for some time to come. It will not disappear two or three weeks from now. So, we have to learn how to live with it,” he said.
He added that, “So, it is not a big deal that anyone tests positive to COVID-19 and I am not ashamed of it. I fought the virus and I am up and about now. I pray that as many of us that will fight the virus will come out of it doing very well.”
Makinde said there was no basis for anyone to be self isolating at home any longer with the provision of the new isolation centre. He said, “Don’t self-isolate at home now. If you are a high-end individual, you can come here.”
