Bello plotting to frame me over aide’s murder – Ogembe

Senator Ahmed Ogembe who represented Kogi Central at the 8th Senate has accused Kogi state Governor Yahaya Bello of plotting to frame him up over the murder of one Yusuf Adabenege, an aide to the governor and custodian of a nocturnal masquerade in Ebira land.

Ogembe, who made the allegation in a press statement issued, Sunday with copies made available to newsmen in Lokoja, called on the Inspector General of Police, IG Muhammed Adamu to expedite action at unravelling the mystery behind the killing.

Adabenege, a masquerade custodian, was killed last year by some gunmen, who later alleged that they were contracted to assassinate him by Ogembe who was then a serving senator.

The immediate last lawmaker described the claim as one of the antics of the governor, who he said he always believed that whoever is not supporting his administration or ambition is an enemy and should be punished.

Senator Ogembe said he has since petitioned the IGP and vowed to get to the root of the matter, saying he was worried that the police was foot dragging in the investigation.

He further alleged that the Kogi state Police Commissioner, CP Hakeem Busari was yet to send the case file to the Force Headquarters in Abuja as directed by the IG.

He called on the IG to enforce the order he gave to the Kogi CP to furnish the Force Headquarters with necessary information about the case so as to allow proper investigation into the murder of late Adabenege.

“I have petitioned the IG over the matter. The IG raised a team to Lokoja to retrieve the case file. But somebody somewhere has stopped the CP from carrying out the IG’s directive. I am calling on the IG to enforce this order.

All efforts to reach the Director General Media and Publicity to the Governor, Kingsley Fanwo, for his response proved abortive as he neither picked his calls nor replied to messages sent to him.
