Benue: APC governorship candidate unveils 7- point policy document, promises good governance

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue, Rev Father Hyacinth Alia, Sunday, said he will render effective and efficient services to the people of the state.

He said the services would be in line with the core values of human capital development, accountability, inter-and intra-governmental cooperation, industry, integrity, character, trust and moral courage that adds value to governance if he becomes governor of the Benue state.

Fr Alia also promised to build an economy based on functional education, employment generation, agricultural development and growth with a focus on food production and processing in a secured environment that ensures food security, wealth creation and poverty reduction for the state.

The APC candidate made the promise when he presented his policy document tagged; “A Strategic Development Plan for a Greater Benue” to journalists in Makurdi.

He said the document is structured around seven priority pillars, with the acronym SACHIIP, which represents, Security of Lives and Property;
Agriculture and Rural Development; Commerce and Industry; Human Capital and Social Development; Infrastructure and Environment; Information & Communication Technology (ICT); and Political and Economic Governance.

He stated that every sector of Benue state’s economy required a peculiar intervention, but the selected sectors were prioritised based on their relative importance and overbearing influence on other economic sectors.

He noted that most public primary, secondary, and tertiary educational institutions had been poorly funded and the situation has allowed for the proliferation of private schools, putting a significant financial burden on Benue parents.
