Benue LG polls: We worked for our victory – Ngbede

Benue state chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mr. John Ngbede, Monday said his party recorded landslide victory in the local government polls because it worked for it.

Ngbede who spoke with newsmen in his office in Makurdi noted that why the PDP was campaigning, other political parties were looking for opportunities to go to court.

The state chairman said the All Progressive Congress (APC), for instance, did not even obtain nomination forms from the electoral body, but quickly went to court when the commission disqualified it.

Ngbede said the APC, instead of working towards the election was busy sponsoring write ups against the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), and the PDP.

He noted that other political parties that bought forms from the state electoral umpire did not also go out for campaigns.

On whether Governor Ortom was preparing to decamp from the PDP, the chairman  said the allegation was false.

“Governor Ortom has no intention to decamp to the APC. He has already dismissed the rumour and I don’t think there is any basis for him to even ponder over such a thing.

“PDP in Benue, as I am talking to you, is very strong and just as we have recorded landslide victory at the local government polls, we will also win the 2023 elections.

“The governor has also for the past one year being working very hard to develop the state.

“He has recorded tremendous achievements in education, infrastructure, health, agriculture and other areas of economy in the state.

“For this, I believe the people will want to work for victory of the state in 2023,” he stated.
