Benue ministry produces ventilator, low-cost disinfection tunnel

The Benue state government through the Ministry of Energy Science and Technology has constructed a disinfectant tunnel, ventilator and digital hand washer to help prevent spread of infectious diseases as well as COVID-19.

Commissioner for Energy, Science and Technology, Dr. Godwin Oyiwona, who stated this when members of the Correspondents Chapel paid him a visit weekend noted that the ministry intends to mass produce the products immediately they were certified by Standard Organisation Nigeria (SON).

He noted that the disinfectant tunnel which usually costs about N12 million per unit, was constructed for just N2.5 million, using materials sourced locally.

The commissioner said there were other innovations that the government had in the offing, and would be made public when the time is ripe. He noted that the ministry has produced quality hand sanitisers which are already in circulation.

He said the basic challenge the ministry was facing in carrying out other inventions was funds.
