Benue’s Operation Zenda arrests 2 kidnap suspects

Men of Operation Zenda, a joint security outfit in Benue state, have arrested two kidnap kingpins that had been terrorising Makurdi, the state capital, and its environs.

The suspected kidnappers were identified as Solomon Iorver and
Achoho Teryima, both residents of Logo 1 along Makurdi- Otukpo road.

They confessed that they started the kidnapping business since last year and had abducted more than three people including wife of a former chairman of Vandeikya local government area, Ibrahim Anor, and collected large sums of money as ransom.

Speaking with journalists while parading the kidnappers, the state Commissioner of Police, Wale Abbas, said kidnapping had been rampant on the North Bank axis of Makurdi and Yelewata.

“It’s a four-man gang, but the leader and one other have escaped while our men have arrested the second-in-command and another member,” he said.
