Biafra: Army trains officers

In a bid to check the agitations taking place in the Southeast and beyond over Biafra sovereignty, the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army has embarked on continuous training of officers to provide the needed security to curtail possible security challenges.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Gen. Emmanuel Boman Kabuk, who disclosed this yesterday, said the prevailing security challenges in the country coupled with the activities of the Biafra agitators, “has made it mandatory for the Nigerian Army to embark on continuous training of their personnel to be combat ready in case of any eventuality.” “The prevailing security situation in the country, coupled with some peculiar activities in the Divisions area of responsibility, especially the recent agitations by criminal groups, has made continuous training imperative,” he said.
The GOC, who disclosed this in an address at the opening ceremony of the 82 Division Operations Planning Cadre 2018, taking place at the 82 Division headquarters, said that the training was to key into the Chief Army Staff, COAS, vision “to have a professionally responsive Nigeria Army in discharge of its constitutional roles.’ According to him, they are embarking on the training aimed at teaching, exercising and refreshing the participants who are officers of the Division in the art of operational planning.
“It is important to note that logistics planning which is key to successful conduct of operations has been added to this training.”
