The former Special Assistant, Strategy and National Contact, to the Cross River state Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, Mr. Ray Morphy has accused the state government of awarding a contract to under serving contractors thereby encouraging wastage of taxpayers money.
He was particular about the construction and dualisation of Mfom-Okuku-Bekwara-Obudu Ranch Roads to a company that lacked the capacity to execute it, adding that the company has never executed a job of this magnitude.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja recently, Morphy, who recently resigned his appointment as Special Adviser, Strategy and National Contact, to the governor on the allegation that there are too much incidents of corruption in the administration, said it was because of this attitude of not following due process in the running of the state that forced him to resign his appointment.
He argued that if due process was followed there is no way such magnitude of job should be given to a company that was only registered on 13th January, 2016 and which has never done any construction job anywhere in Nigeria before.
“It is amazing that pre-qualification assessment was not carried out on the companies by the Cross River state government,” he added while accusing the state government of throwing caution to the winds in the awarding of contract for a project worth over N30billion.
